  • U of A wide receiver Monte Harrison joined UnitedHealthcare and the NWA Food Bank on Jan. 20 to distribute fresh produce, meat, and nonperishables to over 140 families (serving more than 350 individuals in eight zip codes).  THV 11

  • Arkansas author Shelby McFarland is in the THV11 studio today to discuss her new book Market Like a Boss. Her on-air segment explains fresh marketing insights for local entrepreneurs.  THV 11
  • The James Beard Foundation announced on Wednesday that Northwest Arkansas chefs Matthew Cooper and Jason Paul are semifinalists for Best Chef: South and that Rogers’ Onyx Coffee Lab is a semifinalist in the Outstanding Bar category (one of 20 nationwide).   • THV11 meteorologist Tom Brannon explains details on potential winter storms developing in Arkansas; residents are advised to stay tuned + prepare for shifting weather conditions.  THV 11
  • The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management advises residents to stock up on essentials and prepare vehicles as a historic winter storm is forecast to disrupt power and make roads treacherous today + officials urge everyone to check emergency kits and carbon monoxide detectors.  ABC7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas road departments are making preparations in advance of a winter storm expected to bring snow and sleet. ARDOT is mobilizing staff statewide to clear roads — a move to keep drivers safe.  THV 11
  • Central Arkansas Water urges customers to prepare for icy weather to avoid frozen and burst pipes. It recommends letting faucets drip, opening sink cabinets (and maintaining a steady indoor temperature) while crews stand by to fix leaks if they occur.  ABC7
