- ➤ An EF-3 tornado struck Cave City on March 14 (traveling 81 miles and killing three elderly women in Cushman) and damaged 20 local businesses and historic homes as residents begin to rebuild (with five injuries reported), showing their determination to recover from the storm. ABC7

- ➤ On January 11, a Maumelle officer fatally shot Benjamin Prowell during a disturbance on Crystal Hill Road when officers attempted to take him into custody as he brandished a knife—Prosecuting Attorney Will Jones ruled the use of deadly force was justified. ABC7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The federal government has said that conservation funds are safe, but some Arkansas farmers and experts fear that future grants may be cut — a move that could jeopardize investments like drip irrigation and greenhouse improvements. The USDA has resumed payments for current contracts following a February 20 directive. Arkansas Times
- ➤ The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission now requires residents to add a free Turkey Hunting Tag to their licenses, even if they have lifetime or disability licenses, so the Commission can track turkey hunters before the season starts on April 21—nonresidents must follow extra steps, including paying extra fees or selecting an affordable license option, with a special youth hunt scheduled April 12–13.
