  • A new billion-dollar data center is set to open soon in Conway (a big business project) and officials have not yet shared details (such as when it will open or what it will include).  THV 11

CRIME NEWS

  • Conway police arrested 25-year-old Christina Ferguson and 31-year-old Taylor Ferguson on Feb. 17 for retail theft and drug charges after they were caught at the Walmart on Skyline Drive at 10:25 p.m. — the couple is accused of stealing over 120 items from stores in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi — as part of a multi-state investigation.  The Echo

CULTURE NEWS

  • Clay’s Sunday Special, a benefit for Youth Home, will be held at White Water Tavern on Sunday, April 20 from 4-8 p.m. Local chef Adam Sweet will serve a school cafeteria-inspired menu while Kevin Kerby, Isaac Alexander, Sammy Williams and Adam Faucett perform in honor of late Youth Home chef Clay Fitzpatrick (free admission with a suggested $10 donation).  Arkansas Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UCA hosted the Poulter Commons dedication ceremony on March 18 at the Student Success and Veterans Resource Center to honor former provost Patricia Poulter—who served from 2018 to 2024—whose leadership expanded academic programs and student support. About 100 guests attended the event that celebrated her lasting impact on the university.  The Echo
  • Under director Rodney Lippard, Torreyson Library has changed a lot in the past three years—ending 24-hour service and cutting overnight shifts to save money. It has added a sensory lounge, a new online chat service with a real librarian, and a study room booking system after student surveys showed that wifi and study spaces are very important.  The Echo
  • UCA named senior chemistry major Ariellis Rodriguez-Gutierrez intern of the year after her summer research in California on the carbon cycle led to a publication—an honor that shows her hard work in science. She said the internship made her love doing research and teaching to help the environment.  The Echo
