- ➤ Pompe Park’s Veterans Plaza on Prince Street will serve as the permanent home of 645 combat boots honoring fallen Arkansas veterans from conflicts including Vietnam and Middle Eastern operations—each boot will feature the name of a veteran who died in combat or from suicide related to PTSD and will be unveiled the last weekend of September in honor of Veterans Day organized by Hearts of Heroes. - ➤ On April 14, Conway police said a shooting at Fifth Avenue Park on Oak Street killed two people and injured nine who are in stable condition—UCA clarified its logo was misused to promote unauthorized events and that neither its students nor the university was involved, while police ask residents to avoid the area during the investigation. - ➤ At SGA’s final meeting on April 14, Abby Poole appealed her removal after missing a Feb 3 meeting and receiving nine demerits — members voted orally to let her stay. At the same meeting, SPBC asked for $2,825 for events next school year, but its funding appeal was tabled for a senate decision in the summer. The Echo

- ➤ At its brief April 8th meeting, the Conway City Council approved the Community Spark Grant application to give ten local organizations $2,000 each for safer bicycling and unanimously nominated John Ross Henderson to the Conway Corporation Board. The council also agreed to dispose of a 2002 airport truck and approved a fire apparatus purchase via a waived bid process that will save $2,288,530 — the apparatus is expected to hit the streets within two weeks.
