Good morning, Conway.
After a mobile home fire at Oak Street Trailer Park claimed a woman's life, Conway Fire Department union members said that the first arriving trucks had fewer firefighters than the NFPA recommends and claimed that better staffing could have improved safety.
City officials dismissed the union's remarks as inappropriate during this tragedy—insisting that safety concerns should not be used for political points.
Attorney Jesse Gibson announced his run for the 3rd Division seat in the 6th Judicial District—covering Pulaski and Perry counties—after Judge Cathi Compton said she would retire, while attorney Robert Tellez also declared his candidacy for the same seat.
Filing will open Nov. 3 and end Nov. 11 with petition signatures accepted Sept. 11–Sept. 18, and the election is set for March 3.
