- ➤ The Mid-America Arts Alliance is offering a fourth cohort of $10,000 grants to 25 artists from Central Arkansas and the Arkansas Delta through its Catalyze program—creative people from various fields can use the funds for equipment, travel, studio space or other support along with mentorship. - ➤ At its inaugural meeting on Sept. 29, the UCA Student Government Association approved $2,115 for Bear Boots on the Ground’s alternative Spring Break trip and granted $1,669 to the Geography Club to cover lodging and meals for a conference in New Mexico. The SGA denied a $500 request from the Exercise Science Club to cover timing services for its Ghost to Gobble 5k marathon on Nov. 1—stating the club had sufficient funds. The Echo

- ➤ On Sept. 16, the city of Conway repaved key downtown roads including Main, Chestnut, Court, Front and Locust; work was mostly done at night to reduce traffic and disruption—steps taken after community feedback. - ➤ Today, Arkansas shifts nutrition programs from the Department of Education to the Department of Agriculture to better connect local agriculture with school food while launching the Arkansas Rice in Schools Program—providing training and recipes that help schools serve locally grown rice and support state farmers.
