  • On Nov. 13, the Conway Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies will host Tip-A-Cop at Colton’s Steak House to raise money for Special Olympics Arkansas—joining forces to support the charity.  Log Cabin Democrat

  • Greenbrier student Anna Hooten was selected as one of 25 new members for UA Little Rock’s Donaghey Scholars Honors Program. The program rewards academic excellence & offers leadership opportunities.  Log Cabin Democrat

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congressman Rick Crawford proposed a new farm relief bill that would let Arkansas farmers receive 50% of their safety net payments early amid a worsening agriculture crisis, with the plan also suspending 2025 payment limits. The legislation, known as the Bridge the Gap for Rural Communities Act, may help farmers meet loan payments due in February but faces uncertainty due to the government shutdown.  ABC7
  • The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration warned residents that scam texts asking for bank account details are circulating and said the department never texts for refunds—officials noted that scammers are changing the messages to steal money.  ABC7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway will offer special lung cancer screening appointments on November 8 to help residents detect the disease early + the center hopes the new schedule will improve early diagnosis.  Log Cabin Democrat
