CULTURE NEWS

  • Full Moon Records in Conway began as a small vinyl store and is now an all-ages DIY music venue that hosts local concerts and monthly 'New Blood' shows. Owner Justin Dunn renovated the space, built the stage himself—boosting capacity and live sound—to support a thriving hub for the city’s young music community.  Arkansas Times
  • Former state senator Linda Chesterfield, a 1969 Hendrix College graduate, was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame to honor her legacy.  Log Cabin Democrat

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local HVAC experts advise homeowners to prepare heating systems and seal windows and doors as temperatures drop this winter. Paschal Air, Plumbing and Electric and Black Hills Energy urge regular maintenance on equipment — checking insulation, thermostat settings, and furnace filters to help lower energy costs.  THV 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal officials will partially fund SNAP benefits in November using a $4.65 billion emergency fund, but Arkansas has not received instructions on how to distribute the aid. Food pantries have seen increased demand and Gov. Sanders has pledged $500,000 to support food banks—raising concerns that many families may face reduced benefits if delays continue.  Arkansas Times
  • Today, as the federal government shutdown continues, grocery stores and farmers in our state face delayed shipments and rising costs — stores report fewer deliveries and farmers struggle with shipping produce — while federal operations remain paused.  THV 11
