COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Majors Julie and Kenny Igleheart from the Salvation Army spoke on THV11 about how their annual bell ringing tradition will soon begin for the holiday season. The segment explained the plans for the event that signals the start of the festivities.  THV 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Standard Lithium received a $225 million DOE grant to advance its direct-lithium extraction project from the Smackover Formation in South Arkansas — a move expected to create new jobs and boost local business as it enters further permitting and financing stages. Senators and Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders have noted the project will strengthen the domestic lithium supply and help secure national security interests.  ABC7
  • Arkansas is betting on lithium to boost its economy by cutting taxes and speeding permits so extraction can start in 2028. Experts warn that if market or technical problems occur, the boom may mostly help investors and landowners—leaving local budgets and everyday people with little gain.  Arkansas Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Conway school board fired Barbara Tucker—who taught fourth grade at Preston and Florence Mattison Elementary School—after a Tuesday night hearing. The board voted unanimously and the decision will be effective immediately.  Log Cabin Democrat
  • Conway Public Schools has narrowed its search for a new superintendent to four candidates (the finalist list was recently announced). The board will plan next steps and interviews soon (the timeline is yet to be determined).  THV 11

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tyler Cass and Nick Luttrell recapped round 1 of Arkansas high school football playoffs — they shared key plays and team performance details that set the stage for upcoming games.  THV 11
